What is Hoopers?
Hoopers is a fantastic sport for both dogs and handlers! It combines agility with a focus on smooth, flowing courses, which can be great for dogs of all ages and sizes. The use of hoops, tunnels, barrels, and gates not only challenges the dogs but also helps build a strong bond between them and their handlers. Plus, the low-impact nature of the sport makes it accessible to dogs who might not be suited for more intense activities.
How do I become a member, and what does membership cost?
Membership is $45 per year (handler and one dog). Handlers that are members of CHA can register additional dogs. Membership for each additional dog is $10 per year. https://caninehoopersamerica.com/become-a-cha-member/
My dog is reactive, can we compete in Canine Hoopers of America events?
Canine Hoopers of America is very considerate of dogs that may need a bit more space and a calm environment, which is fantastic for building confidence in “Yellow Dogs”—those who may be more sensitive or nervous. The fully enclosed rings are a great way to ensure safety and comfort, allowing these dogs to enjoy the sport at their own pace. Canine Hoopers is a sport that emphasizes both the dog’s and handler’s well-being, fostering a positive experience for everyone involved.
